What is Cafe Gaslight?

You post versions of yourself on social media platforms, and before you know it, this is how you connect to people. You put up a post and hit refresh, and someone who kind of looks like you or maybe the same first or last name suddenly posts. Now you’re feeling uncomfortable, a bit shaky, and maybe this happens every day, a few times a week, or several times a month. Before you know it, you keep talking to friends or family about what you’re seeing on your feed.

We start the conversation by asking what brought you here today and what you hope to address in your appointment.

  • What do we talk about? What we call a chief complaint, which is the reason you’re here, such as I keep feeling flooded with images of someone in a red dress.

  • What do I leave the conversation with? You are given an objective assessment based on what you describe and a plan of some ways to interpret what you’re feeling, how to ground yourself back in reality, and maybe a referral.

  • What are some expectations for treatment? This is a brand new appointment type, and each visit is comprised of how you progress, improve, and how your quality of life changes.

  • Do you provide imaging or medications? Currently, this protocol is at the beginning and, over time, could involve medications. For any immediate medical intervention, a physician refers you appropriately.

  • Do I have to schedule an appointment? Yes, the appointment schedule is provided above, and community offerings are available on the events page. Virtual appointment requests are reviewed through email due to HIPAA restrictions.

  • Is there a formal diagnosis? As of 2025, several organizations that accredit clinicians do recognize ‘AI-induced psychosis’, though we are trying to establish more data. However, the described symptoms overlap with related disorders, diseases, or syndromes. This clinic aims for functional improvement.
